How to disable User Account Control (UAC) on Windows?

UAC or User Account Control is a special security tool that notifies you changes are about to be made on the system. This tool also works as a security against malicious software as it notifies you beforehand that something will be run on your system. On mining rigs this feature can be turned off for software to run faster and without interruption.

Important Do not do this on a personal or work computer, but only on the dedicated mining rigs, which don't contain any personal data, banking data, or private keys.

Follow the next steps to disable UAC.

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Click User Accounts.
  3. Click User Accounts again.
  4. Click Change User Account Control settings.
  5. Set slider to Never notify.
  6. Click OK to confirm.

There are other settings available under UAC settings:

  • Always notify me when: Apps try to install software or make changes to my computer and I make changes to Windows settings.
  • Notify me only when appy try to make changes to my computer (default) and Don't notify me when I make changes to Windows settings.
  • Notify me only when appy try to make changes to my computer (do not dim my desktop) and Don't notify me when I make changes to Windows settings.
  • Never notify me when: Apps try to install software or make changes to my computer and I make changes to Windows settings.
